arts & alpaca summer camp

This coming August we will be offering two weeks of summer camps for kids aged 7 to 11., just 15 minutes south of downtown Penticton.

These summer camps are ideal for kids who love animals and enjoy being creative!

Every morning, we will start off our day with a little alpaca yoga session.  Throughout the week, we will be learning all about alpacas and their amazingly soft wool.  Each day we work on different creative projects from fibre arts to painting.   Daily outdoor games and quiet time;)

Groups size is limited to 8 children per week.

The camp will run Monday to Friday, from 9am to 3pm.  

There will be options available for early drop off and late pick up

Come and join us for a week of fun, learning macrame, finger knitting, weaving and yarn painting. Daily outdoor games, alpaca feeding and alpaca walks.

This will be an introduction to spinning for beginners.

We will start with a little meet and greet with the alpacas and then learn a little bit about their fibre.  We will try hand carding and using a drum carder to prepare the raw fibre for spinning.  We will learn how to spin with a drop spindle and then take a look at how the electric and the traditional spinning wheels work and try them out also.

The second workshop on

Friday the 28th of February is either for those who would like to continue to develop their spinning skills or for those who could not make the first one.

Open to kids aged 7 to 12 

We’ll be using Swifty's super soft fiber to learn how to felt wool, then make and design a beautiful bowl.  We'll add colourful yarn and roving to create our own unique designs.  We'll also be paying a little visit to the alpacas to thank them for their wool with some treats :)
